How to answer "Tell me about yourself"
One of the most common interview questions is also one of the easiest to overthink. Here is a simple way to answer it.
"Tell me about yourself" is usually the first question in an interview. It is not an invitation to tell your life story. The interviewer wants a quick overview of your professional background and why you are here.
Start with where you are now
Briefly describe your current role, experience level, or area of expertise.
Highlight relevant experience
Mention a few projects, responsibilities, or achievements that connect to the position you are applying for.
Finish with why you are interested
Explain what attracted you to the role and what you hope to do next in your career.
A good answer should take around one to two minutes. Keep it focused on your professional journey rather than personal details.
